Breathe in. Breathe out. A meditation session at Code Factory

In today’s fast-paced work environment, where tasks never seem to slow down, taking a breather can feel like a rarity. But here at Code Factory, we genuinely care about the well-being of our team. That's why on March 5th and April 2nd, we embraced the tranquility of a calming meditation session at our office.

Taking a break for self-care

The goal was simple: to prevent burnout and have a moment of peace and calmness. As the session started, the atmosphere changed from the busy energy of work to a peaceful calm. With the help of a skilled meditation instructor, Natalia Urban, we simply closed our eyes, breathed deeply, and allowed ourselves to relax. With the use of a singing bowl (for those who don’t know – a singing bowl is a type of bell that vibrates and produces a harmonic sound when struck with a mallet) and her calming voice, the instructor guided us through the 60-minute relaxation session. For many of us it was a chance to take a much needed break from our screens and everyday tasks. We had the time just for ourselves, to re-connect with our body and mind.

Meditation in everyday life

While finding time to step away from our laptops can be sometimes quite tricky, those sessions can be a beginning of a meditation journey, or at least a small learning lesson to remember to take a small breather in between our daily tasks. There are a variety of sessions being offered onsite or even online, if we don’t feel like leaving our home. For me personally it was a great experience and motivator to join yoga classes and see whether it’s something I can find peace and relaxation in.

Nurturing mental and emotional well-being

I'm grateful that Code Factory offers these kinds of alternatives for self-care. It's not just about massages that we offer as well or other physical perks – it's about nurturing our mental and emotional well-being. The meditation session was a wonderful example of this, and I hope to see more opportunities like it in the near future. It's so important to prioritize our mental health, and initiatives like these help us to do that.
