Celebrating Diversity Day
The world is currently celebrating pride month. A month that has it’s origin in 1969 back in NYC - with an incident in the Stonewall Inn in the famous Christopher Street. Back in the day, homosexual people were permanently discriminated. They were forbidden to dance with each other, no alcohol could be sold to them, and women could only wear pants if they were also wearing at least three pieces of "feminine clothing". The world celebrates pride month, to remind ourselves and set a symbol against hate and exclusion.

We at DKB Code Factory share this mindset and we like to celebrate humanity and therefor we celebrated Diversity Day a few weeks ago.
Diversity and inclusion are topics that have always held a special place in our hearts, so when the opportunity arose to celebrate and showcase these values during our company's diversity day, I couldn't have been more excited.
It was a day dedicated to embracing the uniqueness of every individual within our organization, and I was determined to make it an insightful and impactful experience.
In the weeks leading up to the event, my colleagues and I worked tirelessly to create an exhibition that would not only educate but also inspire our fellow employees. We wanted to emphasize the importance of diversity and inclusion, not just in the workplace but in society as a whole. We brainstormed ideas, researched different cultures, and thought about various displays and interactive activities.
- One of the main goals was to foster understanding and empathy among our colleagues.
- We wanted to create an environment where everyone could feel comfortable and appreciated for who they are, regardless of their background or identity.
- We designed displays that showcased the rich tapestry of cultures, traditions, and perspectives within our company,
On Diversity Day, the day started as usual, but soon our colleagues were facing content to trigger their thoughts and motivate for participation.
It was heartwarming to see the genuine interest and enthusiasm from individuals of all backgrounds, as they interacted with the exhibits and learned about different dimensions of diversity and inclusion.
Throughout the day, I had the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with colleagues, discussing the significance of diversity and how it enhances our workplace and society. It was inspiring to witness the positive impact the exhibition had on people's perspectives and understanding. Many expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to learn and connect with their fellow employees on a deeper level.
The diversity day exhibition was not just a one-day event; it sparked ongoing conversations and initiatives within the company. It served as a catalyst for change, encouraging further dialogue and action towards creating an even more inclusive and equitable workplace.
I am grateful to have been a part of this experience and to work alongside highly motivated colleagues who share the same passion for diversity and inclusion.
