iOS Squad @WWDC2022
When Apple's WWDC 2022 took place and the Code Factory was there - at least remotely.
Our iOS Squad took two days to take a closer look at the innovations for Apple's various operating systems, but especially for iOS. We booked rooms in FS200, short for Friedrichstr. 200, our main office, and watched the videos of the Apple developers during the two days.
We combined the whole event with a kind of "mini-hackathon" to refactor existing code components. In consultation with the product owners, we drew from the pool of our Tech-Debt tickets and were thus able not only to educate ourselves on the innovations, but also to support the DKB (Code Factory) projects in a very practical way.
In the context of WWDC 2022, we found the innovations for handling regex, interesting changes to Swift, the public release of the Xcode Cloud and the new passkeys very exciting. The great benefit of regular expressions should be clear to many developers, but the handling is often not quite trivial. Apple seems to be aware of this and has made improvements there.
Xcode Cloud is a new service that we as DKB find very exciting right after the announcement. We find the seamless integration of CI/CD, device testing and releasing within Xcode very exciting and fills a gap that could often only be filled by combining many different services.
And in the banking environment, the authenticity of a user is extremely important and so passkeys are a welcome solution to avoid potentially insecure passwords. But how we can integrate this technology into the complex structures of banking is a task for the next hackathon 😉 .
In any case, the two days were full of exciting topics and discussions, and we are already looking forward to the public beta in order to incorporate the innovations into our customers' banking.
